Astigmatism

This condition can occur with myopia or hyperopia. It is characterised by irregular curves of the front of the eye, causing is to resemble the side of a rugby ball rather than a football.

This leads to objects being focused as an area of blur rather than a focal point. This can easily be corrected with spectacles and frequently with contact lenses.
