Presbyopia
Presbyopia is a condition where the eye gradually loses its ability to see objects up close.
It commonly onset’s around the age of 45 years old gradually increasing in severity until around 55.
For hyperopic individuals, the apparent onset of this condition will occur sooner. As well as near objects becoming blurred you may have headaches and eyestrain after periods of reading or detailed near work.
This condition can very easily be corrected and symptoms relieved with spectacles, utilising reading, bifocal and varifocal lenses. It can sometimes be corrected with contact lenses.
