Hearing Care
At Jaysons, we offer a full range of private hearing care services alongside our eyecare services. Whether you need a simple hearing health check, a fully comprehensive hearing consultation, hearing aids or ear wax removal – we can help.
Free hearing health check
If you have concerns about your hearing, a short hearing health check is a great place to start. The 15-minute appointment is carried out by our audiologist and consists of an examination of the ears and a sound test. We use 3 sound frequencies in this short screening test to assess whether you have hearing loss. If we think hearing loss may be present, we’ll book you an appointment for a full hearing assessment. It may be that you have a build-up of earwax, in which case we’ll arrange an appointment to remove it for you.
In-depth hearing assessment
Our full hearing assessment is an in-depth, 75-minute appointment with our audiologist. They will discuss your lifestyle and any hearing problems you’ve been having, examine your ears and assess your hearing. At the end of your appointment, you will understand your hearing much better. If you have hearing loss, we’ll give you a demonstration of hearing aids and discuss a treatment plan for you.
Our full hearing assessment is £90, which is redeemable against a new hearing aid purchase.
Ear wax removal
Sometimes hearing problems can be down to a simple build-up of wax in one or both ears. We use the most up-to-date method, microsuction, to safely and quickly remove the wax from your ears. Each ear takes around 15-30 minutes and we recommend a hearing health check afterwards to ensure your hearing is back to normal levels.
Hearing aids
If you have hearing loss, we can get you set up with a hearing aid. We have a choice of subtle in-the-ear hearing aids as well as more traditional behind-the-ear hearing aids for all hearing types. You might be surprised at the difference it can make.
The hearing aids brands we supply are Phonak, Unitron, and Widex, and we also supply a range of accessories including the Phonak Roger system which can give your hearing a boost in challenging situations.
Tinnitus
If you suffer from tinnitus or ringing in the ears, a hearing health check may be helpful. We can check if a referral is needed, try to understand the cause, and come up with a plan to help minimise the problem.
Why have a hearing check?
Hearing loss can be isolating and make life harder than it needs to be and is even linked to dementia. So, if you find you’re having to turn the TV up or ask people to repeat themselves, come in for a check. Contact us to book an appointment. Our hearing clinic runs every Thursday here in Long Eaton, or you can visit our other practices in Belper on Tuesdays or Louth on alternate Mondays and Wednesdays.
